MUZAFFARABAD: Authorities have placed the Mirpur and other areas on high alert ahead of a protest movement and shutter-down strike call by the Joint Action Committee, leading to a large-scale security crackdown across multiple areas.
According to officials, law enforcement agencies conducted operations in Bhimber and Kotli, during which 94 suspected individuals with alleged links to a banned organization were taken into custody. Weapons, sticks, and other materials were also recovered during the operations.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Kamran Ali stated that strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt law and order. He emphasized that protecting citizens’ lives and property remains the top priority, adding that no one would be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
Authorities have advised residents to avoid unnecessary movement and stay away from provocative activities. Security forces, including police and other agencies, are fully alert and closely monitoring the situation.
The DIG further stressed that issues should be resolved through dialogue and legal channels rather than confrontation and violence. He warned that elements trying to create unrest under the call of a banned organization would not escape legal action.
Security measures have been further intensified across the Mirpur division, with increased surveillance and checking at sensitive locations. Officials confirmed that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure peace and stability in the region.
