ISLAMABAD: Qasim Ali Qasmi, focal person of the Shia Ulema Council Punjab, has rejected what he called a “politically motivated narrative” surrounding the recent meeting between Asim Munir and Shia scholars.
He stated that the meeting is being given a negative portrayal on social media, and urged those spreading such interpretations to stop promoting sectarianism. According to him, attempts to misrepresent the meeting serve a specific political agenda.
Qasmi also commented on regional developments, claiming that recent actions against Iran were linked to its support for Gaza. He criticized global silence over civilian casualties in Gaza and expressed solidarity with Iran.
He further emphasized that people from different sects in Pakistan stand united and support Iran, describing it as a neighboring brotherly country. He added that weakening Pakistan or its military would harm the broader Muslim world.
Reiterating his stance, Qasmi warned against spreading sectarian divisions and stressed the importance of unity, stating that both the Pakistani public and armed forces remain strong.
He also expressed condolences over reported deaths linked to Iranian leadership figures and others, and reiterated continued support for Iran from Pakistan.
