Sikh protesters in Washington dub Modi as murderer of farmers

Protesters say Indian govt's repression has necessiated establishment of a separate Sikh state in India.

WASHINGTON: A large number of people from the Sikh community held a protest demonstration in the capital city of the USA against the Indian government.

The protesters were carrying placards and banners and chanting slogans against the Modi government and declared the Indian prime minister as murderer of farmers.

Farmers in India have been protesting against the Modi government demanding an increase in the prices of agricultural products. They tried to march on New Delhi but the government used force to disperse them.

The Sikh community in the US and Canada frequently hold protests against the Modi government for targeting the members of the Sikh separatist Khalistan Movement.

The protesters in Washington also chanted slogans in favour of a separate Khalistan state. They condemned the use of force against the farmers, adding the Indian government had for long perpetrating oppression on the Sikh community. This has necessitated the establishment of a Sikh state in India, they told media on the occasion.

They said that the Indian government was using bullets against the farmers gor holding peaceful rally. The Sikh protesters vowed to continue their struggle gor a separate state and against the Indian injustices with the farmers.
