One school girl killed, six injured in security guard’s firing
SWAT: One school girl was killed and six others were injured after a security guard of a private school opened fire in the institute in Sangota area of Swat in Khyber Pakthunkhwa province, local police said.
The injured children have been shifted to the Saidu Sharif hospital.
According to the media reports, the security guard was mentally disturbed but the authorities are working to confirm it and ascertain the actual case of the incident.
District Police Officer (DPO) Shafeequllah Gandapur said the suspect, a constable identified as Aalim was arrested after the attack. He claimed that the policeman was “mentally unstable”.
Gandapur said that the wounded children have been moved to the Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital and an emergency has been imposed at the facility.
One of the injured girls, who is currently being treated at the hospital, told media that the suspect opened indiscriminate fire on their van as soon as it exited the school gate.
“All the schoolchildren got scared and started shouting after which people started gathering,” she added.
