Sweden resumes visa services in Pakistan after bilateral talks

ISLAMABAD: In a significant diplomatic development, Sweden has announced the resumption of visa services in Pakistan. The announcement follows political consultations held on July 2 between the foreign ministries of Pakistan and Sweden in Stockholm.

According to the spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the decision will facilitate Pakistani nationals seeking short-term visits to Sweden. Starting July 7, 2025, Pakistani citizens will be able to apply for Schengen visas for visits up to 90 days directly from Islamabad.

“The Government of Pakistan welcomes this positive step, which reflects the strengthening of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Sweden,” the spokesperson stated.

During the political consultations, the Pakistani delegation was led by the Additional Secretary for Europe, while the Swedish side was represented by the Director General for Global Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In related news, two new countries have also been added to the list of Schengen member states, further expanding travel options under the Schengen visa framework.
