PESHAWAR: An Afghan transgender person was shot and seriously injured in the Faqirabad area after allegedly refusing to become friends with the attackers.

According to reports, the incident took place outside Pervez Plaza near Iqbal Plaza, where the victim, identified as Sara alias Dilbar, was present after returning from a musical program. Two unidentified men on a motorcycle approached and opened fire before fleeing the scene. The victim sustained multiple bullet injuries and was shifted to an intensive care unit for treatment.

Police have registered a case against the suspected attacker, Farhan alias Adam, along with another unidentified individual.

Arzu Khan, president of the transgender community, stated that the injured person had previously left Kohat due to harassment by the same suspect, who had been continuously troubling them.

Arzu Khan further added that two transgender individuals have already been killed in Peshawar this year and urged authorities to take strict action against those involved in murder, violence, extortion, and harassment targeting the transgender community.
