Transgenders announce annual festival in Karachi

KARACHI: The representatives of transgenders community here on Sunday announced that they will hold a transgenders festival in Karachi on November 9.

Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club, Dr Sara Gul, Bandya Rana and others said that  the second “Hijla Festival” will be held at Frere Hall on Nov 9. Before the festival, the transgender community members will hod a rally, they added. The theme of the festival this year would be the “identity of transgender community.”

They also said that the the transgenders community at the festival will call upon the government to fulfill the demands of the community and provide them all facilities. They said that the community should be given their share in the government job quota.

A large number of transgenders community members will participate in the festival, they said, urging the media to give full coverage tot he event.
