Trump Renames Pentagon as “Department of War”

WASHINGTON: In a dramatic move, US President Donald Trump has issued an executive order renaming the Pentagon, changing its title from the Department of Defense to the “Department of War.”

During a ceremony in the Oval Office, Trump signed the order and told reporters that “it is time to call things by their real names.” He argued that in light of current global circumstances, the new name is more suitable and would project America’s strength to the world.

The president further revealed that discussions are underway regarding a potential security agreement with Ukraine. He said the United States remains actively engaged in supporting Ukraine’s security and is working toward providing concrete guarantees.

At the signing event, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth stood alongside Trump and will now carry the title of Secretary of War. Shortly after the announcement, the Pentagon’s official X (formerly Twitter) account updated its profile to display the new name.

Observers say the decision is likely to spark debate both domestically and internationally, as it represents a sharp rhetorical shift in how Washington frames its military and defense policies.
