MASTUNG: Two young cricketers were shot dead after unidentified gunmen opened fire during a cricket match in Balochistan’s Mastung district on Wednesday, police said.
The incident occurred at a cricket ground near Shamsabad Cross, where armed assailants opened indiscriminate fire during the match, killing two players identified as Ayush and Sagar.
The attack triggered panic among players and spectators, who fled the ground to save their lives.
Police and other law enforcement personnel reached the scene shortly after the shooting, shifted the bodies to a hospital for legal formalities and cordoned off the area to collect evidence.
The attackers managed to escape after the incident, while relatives of the victims staged a protest by blocking the Quetta-Karachi National Highway. The road was later reopened following negotiations with the district administration.
