Two-year degree program ends, degrees obtained through colleges after 2018 declared illegal
ISLAMABAD: BA, B.Com and B.Sc degrees will no longer be available through colleges, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced to end the two-year degree programs.
The notification issued by the HEC regarding the termination of the two-year degree program has been sent to the Vice-Chancellors, Rectors and Heads of all public and private sector universities.
According to the notification, degrees obtained in any college BA, B.Com or B.Sc. after 2018 have been declared illegal. The HEC was informed about the termination of the two-year degree programs in a letter issued on March 15, 2017.
However, after three years, there are reports of degree awarding institutions (colleges) continuing to enroll in BA, B.Com or B.Sc. programs, the HEC said, adding that despite the ban in 2018, the illegal program release is worrying.
The Higher Education Commission in its recent notification has directed the universities to immediately stop enrollment in such two-year programs through colleges. The HEC will not recognize any such degree after December 31, 2018.
