UN repeats call for humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza

Health ministry in Gaza says at least 25,105 people have been killed in Palestinian territory since October 7.

KAMPALA: The United Nations on Sunday repeated the call from the world body for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

The call came from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres while speaking at the conclusion of a summit of Non-Aligned Movement in Kampala, Uganda.

He said the UN had also lost its 152 staff members in the war that started after Hamas attacked many Israeli towns on October 7.

He said people were also dying from lack of food, clean water and medicines as Gaza and other areas in Palestine were facing a humanitarian crisis. Moreover, thousands of people have been displaced after their homes were bombed snd razed to the ground.

Despite calls from the UN and other world forums, the Zionist state continues bombing civilian population, refugee camps snd even hospitals. So far, about 25,000 people, including women and children have been killed in the Israeli attacks.

The health ministry in Gaza on Sunday said at least 25,105 people have been killed in the Palestinian territory since the conflict with Israel broke out on October 7.

A ministry statement said some 62,681 people were also wounded.
