WASHINGTON: A majority of US citizens have rejected President Donald Trump’s statement on the taking over of Gaza Strip.
According to a poll conducted by a US media outlet, 47 percent of Americans disapproved of Trump’s Gaza plan.
In the poll, 13 percent supported Trump’s statement and 40 percent of Americans did not have a clear opinion.
The poll results showed 54 percent of Americans supporting President Trump’s handling of the Hamas-Israel conflict and 46 percent opposing it.
It may be recalled that President Trump had recently announced the US taking over of Gaza.
President Donald Trump has said the United States will take over the Gaza Strip. The aim is to bring stability to the region and create thousands of jobs.
President Trump said, “I see a long-term ownership position in Gaza, we will develop Gaza. jobs for people in the area. It will house the citizens.”
After Trump’s announcement, the United Nations and many countries around the world opposed the evacuation of Palestinians from Gaza and urged a two-state solution.
