ISLAMABAD: Acting US Ambassador to Pakistan Natalie Baker commended Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts to stabilize the region, highlighting Islamabad’s constructive role in promoting peace.

She emphasized that the United States views Pakistan as a key strategic partner in South Asia.

She and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at a meeting reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in security, counterterrorism, narcotics control, and regional peace-building. Both acknowledged the importance of sustained dialogue to address evolving transnational threats.

During the meeting, they discussed recent developments in regional security, including the meeting between Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and former U.S. President Donald Trump, which they described as a positive step toward deepening bilateral ties.

Minister Naqvi praised Trump’s leadership in facilitating the Iran-Israel ceasefire, calling it “extraordinary and sincere,” and linked it to his earlier role in promoting the Pakistan-India ceasefire. “We hope President Trump will also succeed in bringing peace to Gaza,” Naqvi said.

He reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding commitment to resolving disputes, including the Kashmir issue, through dialogue and diplomacy.
