TEHRAN: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that the current situation is the result of violations of a memorandum of understanding by the United States, stressing that Washington must address and rectify those violations.
According to Abbas Araghchi, Iran is very close to reaching an agreement with Oman on a temporary maritime navigation route in the Strait of Hormuz. However, he clarified that this does not mean the Strait of Hormuz will be fully reopened, as the matter will depend on other factors.
The Iranian foreign minister said that talks have already been held between the armed forces of Iran and Oman on the issue and that the agreement is now being finalised.
He further said that the Iranian armed forces have identified a new route for navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Araghchi’s remarks came amid ongoing discussions regarding maritime navigation through the strategic waterway and efforts to establish a temporary route for vessels.
