US threat of bombing Iran an insult to world peace, says Tehran

Iranian commander says America should not throw stones at others by staying in a glass house.

TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Ministry has responded in categorical terms to US President Donald Trump’s threat to bomb Iran if Tehran does not agree to an agreement with Washington on its nuclear program.

US President Donald Trump said yesterday that if Iran does not sign the nuclear deal, Iran will be bombed.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry today said that the open threat of bombing Iran was an insult to world peace and security. It said violence breeds violence and peace produces peace, adding the path and consequences can be chosen by the United States.

The commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, also warned the United States of consequences.

The Iranian commander said that the United States has 10 military bases and 50,000 troops in the region, and it should not throw stones at others by staying in a glass house.

Ayatollah Khamenei also warned that if the United States took such a step, it would be dealt a severe blow.
