ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Pakistan has targetted terrorists hiding in Afghanistan and will continue to do so in the future as well.

In an interview to a foreign media organization, the minister said those carrying out terrorist attacks on Pakistan should be ready for its consequences. “Should we present pastry to the terror elements,” he asked the interviewer.

He said that there had been a marked increase in the terror attacks on Pakistan during the last one year, necessitating the launch of a new and well planned operation against them.

In reply to a question, the minister said that the withdrawal of NATO forces and the amnesty given to outlawed TTP by the government of Imran were the factors behind the increase in terror attacks in Pakistan.

He said Pakistan had expected that the Afghan regime would take action against the TTP terrorists, but they didn’t take any action against them as they had been allies in the past.

In reply to another question, Mr Asif said that the government would have no issue if Imran was released from jail. He said if political parties agree on a compromise for political stability in the country the establishment should have n objections.
