ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir has said that we will not become part of any international dispute but will continue playing a role in promotion of peace.
He was speaking at Margalla Dialogue 2024 in Islamabad on Friday. He said that the fast spread through social media of fake news and baseless propaganda had become a major issue in the world. He said the increasing role of non-state entities due to different changes was also becoming sn issue.
The army chief also mentioned the issue of terrorism faced by the world and the availability of the means of mass communication to terror groups. He said that Pakistan had been playing its due role in fighting terrorism. Our resolve to fight the menace is unparalleled, adding terrorism was an international issue and needed joint strategy to be defeated.
He said that Azme Istihkam was an integral part of the National Action Plan which was aimed at eliminating terrorism and extremism.
The army chief said that the Afghan interim government had been told to make sure that its soil is never used for terror activities in any other country.
He also said that due to the extremist attitude of India minorites were not safe even in America and Canada as well as other countries. He said that the dispute of Jammu and Kashmir was yet to be resolved under the United Nations Security Council resolutions due to the intransigence of India.
