World Bank President Ajay Banga Arrives in Pakistan on Key Visit

ISLAMABAD: World Bank President Ajay Banga has arrived in Pakistan on an official visit, which is expected to focus on economic reforms and long-term development cooperation.

According to sources, Ajay Banga will remain in Pakistan until February 4, during which he will hold meetings with senior government officials. Discussions are expected to cover Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms as well as the country’s concerns regarding the water dispute with India.

Sources said that the World Bank president is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, along with officials from the energy and economic affairs ministries.

During the visit, Pakistani authorities will brief Ajay Banga on the government’s reform agenda and development priorities. The meetings are also expected to review progress on Pakistan’s 10-year Country Partnership Framework with the World Bank.

Under this framework, the World Bank is expected to provide up to $20 billion in financing to Pakistan by 2035, aimed at supporting economic stability, development projects, and structural reforms.
