ISLAMABAD: As many as 100 young agricultural professionals departed for China to begin advanced training at the Southwest University of Science and Technology.

This marks the first phase of the Prime Minister’s Special Capacity Building Program, which aims to train 1,000 Pakistani agriculture graduates at leading institutions across China, Radio Pakistan reported.

The program is designed to equip the next generation of Pakistani agriculturists with hands-on experience in climate-smart, technology-driven farming practices, drawing from China’s globally recognized expertise in agricultural innovation.

To mark the occasion, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research hosted a pre-departure ceremony in Islamabad. Secretary of the Ministry, Amir Muhyuddin, delivered the keynote address, applauding the commitment and potential of the trainees.

“This initiative reflects the Prime Minister’s vision to transform Pakistan’s agriculture sector through technology adoption and global partnerships,” he said. “These young professionals will play a key role in building a resilient and modern agricultural economy.”

The training program is expected to strengthen Pakistan-China cooperation in agriculture and contribute to long-term sustainable development in the sector.
