BISHKEK: President Asif Ali Zardari and Kyrgyz Parliament Speaker Mamataliev Marlen Abdyrakhmanovich on Wednesday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening parliamentary cooperation, expanding trade and deepening bilateral relations during talks in Bishkek.
The meeting focused on enhancing inter-parliamentary engagement, boosting economic cooperation and promoting people-to-people exchanges. President Zardari said stronger parliamentary links were vital to ensuring continuity in bilateral relations and fostering closer ties between the two countries.
The Kyrgyz Speaker welcomed President Zardari and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s longstanding friendship with the Kyrgyz Republic, reaffirming his commitment to expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Earlier, President Zardari visited the Ata-Beyit Memorial Complex in Chong-Tash, where he laid a wreath at the central monument and paid tribute to Kyrgyz national martyrs and the country’s struggle for independence. He also toured the Ata-Beyit Memorial Museum, which documents Kyrgyzstan’s journey to sovereignty and includes the memorial of renowned writer Chingiz Aitmatov.
Before arriving in Bishkek, President Zardari was seen off by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov at Issyk-Kul Airport in Tamchy. At Manas International Airport, he was received by Speaker Mamataliev Marlen Abdyrakhmanovich and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Altamash Wazir Khan.
