21 killed in bomb blast at Quetta railway station

QUETTA: At least 21 people lost their lives and over 40 others were injured in a powerful bomb blast at the Quetta railway station on Saturday morning.

Police and rescue authorities told media that the bomb blast occurred near the ticketing booth at the railway station before the departure of Jafar Express for Peshawar.

Doctors at Civil Hospital confirmed that they had received 21 dead bodies and scores of injured and an emergency had been declared in the hospital.

The senior superintendent of police of the area said the bomb blast seemed to be suicide attack but an investigation had been launched to confirm it.

As usual for government authorities in Pakistan, the chief minister of Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti wasted no time and ordered an investigation and strongly condemned the incident and sought a report. He also vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice.
