Misleading narratives cannot change status of border: FO

Afghan regime told to stop terrorists from carrying out terror activities in Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has said self-serving and fanciful claims and misleading narratives regarding the legality and sanctity of the Pakistan-Afghan border cannot change the facts of geography, history and international law.

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said the Afghan side should be advised to address Pakistan’s genuine security concerns instead of trying to divert public attention by such unfortunate public pronouncements.

“Pakistan remains committed to facilitating fully regulated movement of people and goods across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border based on norms of interstate relations and we will continue to take steps to this end,” said the spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in a statement.

She issued the statement in response to media queries regarding remarks of Deputy Interim Foreign Minister of Afghanistan.

It may be mentioned here that for over two years, terrorists hiding in Afghanistan have been attacking security forces in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.

Repeated demands to the Afghan regime in Kabul to stop the terrorists from carrying out their terror activities have fallen on deaf ears.
