Military exhibits prowess at Pakistan Day parade

President confident new govt will put country back on track to development and prosperity.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Day Military concluded at Parade Avenue in Islamabad in which the Saudi defense minister is the chief guest.

President Asif Ali Zardari observed the parade from a jeep. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif  also attended the parade.  

A fly past of fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy was held at the beginning of the parade.

Newly-inducted J-10 C, indigenously built JF-17 , F-16 and Mirage fighter jets as well as AWACs, P-3C Orion and ATR participated in the fly past.

Tight security is in place with all roads around the venue blocked for traffic. The Pakistan Day is also being held in the provincial capitals and there is a public holiday in the country.

Speaking on the occasion, President Zardari paid tribute to founder of the country Quaid-e-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah and all leaders of Pakistan Movement.

He also highlighted the economic issues being faced by the country and resolved to overcome them and put Pakistan on track to progress and prosperity.

“I am happy that after elections, a democratic government has been established. It is our collective responsibility to unite and find a solution to these issues,” he said.

He also said that people of Pakistani people  are hard working and intelligent and that the youth will make great use of the resources at their disposal for the country’s progress and a brighter future.
