US asks Taliban in Kabul to keep checks on terror outfits

We are in regular communication with Pakistani leaders to discuss Afghanistan in detail, says spokesperson.

WASHINGTON: The United States has said that it is imperative for the Taliban regime in Afghanistan to keep checks on terror outfits and not allow them to carry out their activities in any other country or the region.

During a briefing, US deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel the United States was committed to ensuring that Afghanistan never again became a safe haven for terrorists who could harm the interests of America United or its partners and allies.

He was answering questions at the briefing at the State Department which related to the spike in terror attacks on security forces in Pakistan.

“We are in regular communication with Pakistani leaders to discuss Afghanistan in detail, including through our counterterrorism dialogue and other bilateral consultations.”

He said the US deeply regrets the loss of lives and injustices sustained during the attacks.

The terror attacks in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have claimed numerous lives and despite Pakistan’s engagements with the Taliban in Kabul there has been no respite from it.
