Pakistan alone cannot decide to make Gilgit-Baltistan a province: PM Farooq Haider

RAWALPINDI: Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider has said that parts of Kashmir cannot be divided without a referendum. The proposal of regional referendum is against UN resolutions. Pakistan has decided to make Gilgit-Baltistan a province against the will of Kashmiris. Whoever betrayed the Kashmiris will be destroyed.

Addressing the ground breaking ceremony of the renovation of the mausoleum of Kashmiri leader Chaudhry Ghulam Abbas, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider said that whoever betrayed the Kashmiris movement, be it Kashmiri or Pakistani, was and will be destroyed. Gilgit-Baltistan’s electoral politics on the Kashmir issue is very unfortunate. Kashmiris sacrificed their lives, property and honor for Pakistan. The people of occupied Kashmir have been victims of Indian atrocities for 73 years.

Furthermore, Raja Farooq Haider said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan should get maximum rights but the decision to form a province could not be taken without the consent of Kashmiris, the main party in Kashmir issue. There is no traitor in Azad Kashmir, while a strong and stable Pakistan is essential for the independence of Kashmir.
