President signs Madressa bill under Societies Act

Issue resolved, religious seminaries could be registered either with ministry of education or under Societies Act, says Ulema Council Chairman.

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has signed the Madressa Registration Bill making it a law and ending the row between the government and religious parties.

According to a notification issued by the National Assembly Secretariat, the bill passed by parliament has now become a law.

The president signed the bill to make it a law under the Societies Act.

After the development, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Tahir Ashrafi said that the issue had beenĀ  resolved. He said the religious seminaries could now be registered either with the ministry of education or under Societies Act.
