MUZAFFARABAD: The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has announced that general elections will be held on July 27, along with the release of the complete electoral schedule.
Chief Election Commissioner (Retd.) Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mughal, while addressing a press conference in Muzaffarabad, confirmed the polling date and said that elections will be conducted under strict security arrangements.
According to the announced schedule, the submission of nomination papers will begin on June 9 and continue until June 19. Candidates will be able to submit their papers until 4:00 PM on the final day.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on June 20, followed by the publication of the list of valid candidates the same day. Appeals against rejection of nominations can be filed from June 21 to June 24.
Hearings on these appeals will be conducted on June 26 and June 27, while final decisions will be announced on June 28 and June 29. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is June 30, with the final list of candidates to be published on July 1.
Election symbols will be allotted on July 2, after which the final list along with symbols will also be issued the same day.
Polling will be held on July 27 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM across Azad Kashmir.
The Chief Election Commissioner added that, in view of the security situation, the elections will be conducted under the supervision of security forces, including Rangers and other law enforcement agencies.
