MUZAFFARABAD: A Pakistan Army Mi-17 helicopter crashed near Muzaffarabad on Wednesday due to a reported technical fault, resulting in the martyrdom of all personnel onboard, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The incident occurred during takeoff as part of a routine flight operation. Officials stated that the helicopter lost control shortly after takeoff due to a technical malfunction and subsequently crashed.
Rescue and relief teams were immediately dispatched to the crash site, but authorities confirmed that there were no survivors. The identities and number of personnel onboard have not yet been officially disclosed.
The ISPR has announced the formation of a board of inquiry to investigate the exact cause of the accident and examine all technical aspects involved.
Chief of Army Staff and senior military leadership expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss, paying tribute to the fallen personnel for their service and sacrifice. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended condolences, stating that the nation stands united in honoring the bravery of its martyrs.
