BD lawmaker goes missing in Kolkata

Family says Anwarul Azeem was staying with a friend in Kolkata fir medical treatment.

DHAKA: A member of the parliament of Bangladesh has gone missing in India and police fear that he might have been murdered.

According to media reports, Anwarul Azeem, a lawmaker belonging to the ruling party, had gone to the West Bengal fir medical treatment. 

Azeem had reached the house of his friend in Kolkata on May 12 and after two days went missing. Hus friend then informed the police.

The police in Kolkata feared that Azeem might have been murdered, but they did not elaborate further. 

The family members of Azeem back home in Dhaka have taken up his disappearance with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid.
