FIR lodged against transpersons for attacking PTI spokesman

Aabpara police launch probe after attempted murder case filed by Rauf Hassan.

ISLAMABAD: Police have launched an investigation against unknown transgender persons after an attack on PTI spokesman Rauf Hassan on Tuesday.

The case was registered at the Aabpara police station under sections of Pakistan Penal Code related to attempted murder and threatening with dire consequences.

Rauf Hassan told the police that he had gone to the office of a TV channel at G-7 to participate in a show. When he came out of the office, trans person confronted him in the parking lot and then tried to slit his jugular vein by using a blade. When he moved back to dave his life, the blade hit his face.

In the meanwhile, three other transgender persons joined and attacked him. He said a few days ago some transgender persons had also tried to attack him in Blue Area.

The police said that they have collected the CCTV footage from the area and were working on identification of the attackers.

Meanwhile, PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan in a message from Adiala jail condemned the attack and said it was carried out by those who want to silence his party.
