SYDNEY: A man hailed as a hero for saving lives during a deadly attack at Bondi Beach in Australia has been accused of assaulting his father, according to media reports.
The individual, identified as Ahmed Alahmad, gained widespread recognition after reportedly disarming an attacker during a violent incident in 2025 that left multiple people dead and injured.
Authorities in Sydney said the alleged assault took place in March 2026 at a residence in the Bankstown area. Following an investigation, a 44-year-old man was charged with assault as well as stalking or harassment-related offenses.
While police did not officially disclose the suspect’s identity, several Australian media outlets have named Alahmad in connection with the case.
Alahmad has denied all allegations, calling them false and stating that he has no knowledge of the claims made against him.
He had previously been praised across Australia for his bravery and had even met Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. A fundraising campaign launched in his support raised over one million dollars following the attack.
The case is scheduled for its next court hearing on June 29, where further legal proceedings will take place.
