A meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. The meeting approved in principle the amputation of the penis of the rapist. PM Imran Khan said that legislation should not be delayed to prevent incidents of sexual abuse.
Addressing the cabinet meeting, PM Imran said that legislation should not be delayed to prevent incidents of sexual abuse, strict laws would be enforced for the protection of the people, Federal Minister Faisal Wawda, Azam Swati, and federal ministers including Noorul Haq Qadri, called for a law on public executions for rape offenders.
The Prime Minister said that initially the castration law has to be approached. Work on the draft rape ordinance has been completed, women policing, fast track cases and protection of witnesses will be a key component. Complaints will be lodged and special care will be taken to protect their identities.
Furthermore, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) raised the issue of Karachi package in the cabinet meeting. Federal Minister Amin-ul-Haq said that Prime Minister, you should look into the matter yourself. However, PM Khan called on a meeting on Karachi package on Thursday.
