Govt decided to cut off gas supply to industries

 

Government has decided to cut off gas supply to more than 950 industries. It will be applicable to general industries from February 1 and to export industries from March 1. In the last two years, natural gas production has declined by 400 mmcfd.

According to the document, 1,211 industries in the country are using gas to generate electricity. These include 610 export industries and 601 non-export industries. Gas cuts to industries will save 415 mmcfd of gas.

According to the document, natural gas production has declined by 400 mmcfd in the last two years, so industries will now be supplied with electricity from the national grid. Exporting industries are currently using 290 MMCFD gas for power generation through captive power plants and non-exporting industries are using 125 MMCFD gas.
