ISLAMABAD: People across the country have rejected the recent claim by the federal government that inflation had reduced from 33 per cent to just 9 per cent in the recent days.
The Bureau of Statistics Islamabad recently claimed that the consumer price index had shown a reduction of 24% falling from 33% to just 9% within the last about 10 months.
However, a survey carried out by different media outlets a cross the country has shown that people were totally against the claim. The consumers said that for the last about one year they have not seen any reduction in essential kitchen items.
They said that the prices of different food commodities had instead increased substantially. They said Dal Mash which was available for Rs360 per kg was now selling at Rs400, Dal Mong at Rs380 against its earlier price of Rs290. Similar is the situation with the prices of all other food items.
The consumer set that prices of vegetables in fruits remained fluctuating round the year depending on the supply and demand.
They said that they report issued by the Bureau of Statistics had nothing to do with the prices being paid by be consumers for essential items. They said that not only the prices of food and other items but the rates of medicine including life saving drugs had gone up and were now out of the reach of the common man.
