DUBAI/BEIRUT: Hezbollah has rejected a proposed ceasefire in Lebanon, complicating efforts by the United States to broker peace and advance negotiations with Iran.
Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said the group would continue its “resistance,” despite a U.S.-backed ceasefire plan that had been discussed with the Lebanese government.
Meanwhile, Israel signaled it would not withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon and continued military strikes in the region.
The ceasefire proposal is closely tied to broader U.S.-Iran negotiations, with Tehran indicating that halting hostilities in Lebanon is a key condition for any wider agreement. Tensions remain high, with continued clashes across the region raising concerns about escalation.
U.S. President Donald Trump said progress toward a deal with Iran could come soon, though ongoing violence and political divisions continue to threaten diplomatic efforts.–Reuters
