Hundreds of High Schools in Punjab to Be Upgraded
LAHORE: The government of Punjab has decided to upgrade hundreds of high schools across the province to higher secondary schools.
This will allow students completing their matriculation to continue their FA (Intermediate Arts) or FSc (Intermediate Science) studies at the same institutions.
Authorities have requested detailed data from schools regarding available space and infrastructure suitability. The heads of the respective high schools have been asked to submit complete reports on their institutions.
After inspection by a third-party committee, eligible high schools will be granted higher secondary status.
Currently, Punjab has approximately 6,000 high schools, and data from 5,800 schools has already been collected. Out of these, 795 schools have expressed interest in upgrading, provided they meet the necessary space and facility requirements.
This move is part of the government’s broader plan to expand access to intermediate education within existing schools, reducing the need for students to change institutions after matriculation.
