IHC dismiss SMA plea to stop proceeding on SIC report

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has pronounced on Saturday its verdict reserved on Sugar Mills Associations’ applications and expelled their applications of interdiction order.

The IHC has allowed the PTI-led federal government to proceed on Sugar Inquiry Commission findings.

The federal government had made Sugar Inquiry Commission’s report public on 22 May, which was set up according to Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Accountability Shehzad Akber, because upto 33% prices were hiked of sugar from December 2018 to August 2019. On that Prime Minister Imran Khan has vowed to continue accountability across the board.

Later on, on 10th June, the Sugar Mills Associations has moved to Islamabad High Court and filed a petition to IHC and challeneged the establishment.
