ISLAMABAD: PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi have filed appeals in Islamabad High Court against their conviction in the 190 million pound reference case.
The petitions challenging the verdict were filed in the Islamabad High Court through Khalid Yusuf Chaudhry Advocate.
The trial court recently sentenced Imran Khan to 14 years and Bushra Bibi to seven years in jail in the 190 million pound reference.
The appeals held that NAB misused its powers in a mala fide manner and hastily awarded the sentence on the basis of incomplete investigation.
It said that the non-receipt of the text of the agreement from the National Crime Agency of UK shows the reluctance of the investigating agency. An investigation involving NCA officials was also not conducted and the prosecution failed to present complete evidence.
The Islamabad High Court has been requested to annul the January 17 verdict of the Accountability Court and acquit both Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
