Air strikes on port in response to missile firing on Israel by Houthies, says Israel.

CAIRO: Several people were reported dead or injured and buildings on fire after Israeli jets carried iut attacks on the port of Yemen, according to international media.

The reports said that Israel attacked the Hideidah port of Yemen leaving buildings on fire and four people dead and over 100 injured. Israel said the attack was in response to firing of missiles and drones into Israel and its capital Tel Aviv.

In these attacks, one person had died near the US embassy in the Israeli capital.

The Zionist state said that its planes targeted Houthies’ bases in the Yemeni port after they carried out several missile and drones attacks on Tel Aviv in the last about a month.

The reports said that the Israeli planes bombed several oil facilities in the port.

According to Hodeidah residents,  explosions were heard throughout the city during an intensive bombardment, and Al-Masirah TV said civil defence forces and rescuers were  extinguishing the flames in the port’s oil tanks.

A spokesman for the Israeli military said the port had been used by Houthis to receive weapons shipments from Iran. The targets, more than 1,700 km (1,056 miles) from Israel, included dual-use sites such as energy infrastructure, Reuters news agency reported.
