NEW YORK: From May 7 to 9, 2025, Kashmiri and Pakistani-American communities staged a digital truck campaign across major U.S. locations. The protest began at the United Nations Headquarters in New York and proceeded through key sites including the Indian Permanent Mission to the UN, the Indian Consulate, Times Square, Broadway, and Fifth Avenue.
The demonstrations aimed to condemn India’s recent military aggression and to highlight Pakistan’s immediate and precise response. Protesters also drew attention to ongoing human rights violations (HRVs) by Indian forces in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Support for Pakistan’s Air Force and Response Strategy
Participants praised the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for its disciplined and professional actions following the Pahalgam incident. Demonstrators claimed that the PAF had downed five Indian military aircraft, including Rafale jets, while avoiding civilian harm.
In contrast, they accused Indian forces of indiscriminately targeting civilians, including women and children. Protesters emphasized that Pakistan’s actions focused solely on military targets, reflecting international combat norms and professionalism.
Urgent Warnings and Global Appeals
Protesters warned that continued Indian aggression could escalate into a full-scale conflict between two nuclear-armed nations. Speakers underscored the critical need for global intervention to prevent a humanitarian disaster in South Asia.
They also demanded the immediate implementation of UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions on Kashmir. According to demonstrators, only a fair and democratic resolution to the Kashmir issue can ensure long-term peace.
Capitol Hill Joins the Movement
On May 9, the digital truck campaign expanded to Washington, D.C., starting at Capitol Hill. The route included stops near the White House, National Mall, Indian Embassy, and prominent avenues like Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Wisconsin.
Again, demonstrators highlighted India’s alleged war crimes in IIOJK and reiterated their support for the Pakistani military’s targeted and restrained response. They accused Indian forces of intensifying repression in the region, calling it a systematic campaign of HRVs.
Protesters Demand International Accountability
Throughout the campaign, protestors raised strong slogans in support of Kashmir’s right to self-determination and lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces. They called on the international community to hold India accountable for its military and human rights transgressions.
Organizers stressed the urgent need for diplomatic action, stating that silence from global powers only emboldens further violations in IIOJK.
