PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cabinet has approved the Speaker and Deputy Speaker Privileges and Salaries Act 2026.
Under the proposed legislation, the powers, privileges, and allowances of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be defined and regulated through law.
According to the bill, the Speaker will be entitled to use two official vehicles along with a bulletproof car. The provisions also allow reimbursement of actual electricity and gas bills for both offices.
The draft further includes monthly medical and additional travel allowances for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker, with their rates to be determined by the Finance Committee. It also states that their family members will be eligible for government medical facilities.
In terms of administrative structure, the Speaker will serve as the controlling authority for financial matters, while the Deputy Speaker will function under a designated controlling officer.
The bill also provides for foreign official visits, stating that allowances will be granted according to rates approved by the Finance Committee.
