PESHAWAR: The home department of Khyber Pakthunkhwa has given a list containing the details about 18,000 foreigners living in the province without documentations.
The police have been directed to round up these illegal aliens for their deportation. The list included about 6,000 children and 5,000 women. Most of these illegal foreigners are Afghan nationals still living in different parts of the province.
After the end of the deadline for the illegal migrants to return to their countries voluntarily by October 31, over 250,000 Afghan nationals have returned to their country via the Torkham border. hundreds of Afghan nationals were rounded up from different parts of Khyber Pakthunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh for shifting to the designated centers.
During the four weeks given to the illegal foreigners till October 31, a little over 100,000 Afghan nationals were reported to have left the country through the Torkham and Chaman borders of KP and Balochistan.
Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti had directed officials concerned not to disrupt Afghans who would voluntarily leave the country even on November 1.
All those being shifted to the holding centers should be treated with respect, he told the officials.
On the other hand, a group of human rights activists headed by former senators Farhatullah Babar and Afrasiab Khattak had asked the government not to evict vulnerable asylum seekers and vulnerable Afghans.
