Ministry Issues Details of Pakistani Prisoners Released Abroad

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released details of Pakistani prisoners who were released from foreign jails. The information was presented in the National Assembly.

According to the ministry, over the past year, more than 12,500 Pakistani prisoners were released from jails abroad. The breakdown includes 4,863 prisoners from Baghdad, 1,947 from Jeddah, 1,650 from Kuala Lumpur, 1,899 from Dubai, 863 from Riyadh, 371 from Muscat, and 93 from Moscow. Smaller numbers were released from Istanbul (30), Harare (67), New York (18), Harris (91), Bangkok (16), and Ankara (125).

The report also states that, to date, 21,480 Pakistani prisoners remain in foreign jails. Among them, 10,745 are in Saudi Arabia, 5,297 in the United Arab Emirates, 601 in Qatar, 578 in Oman, 448 in Malaysia, 738 in India, 516 in Greece, 452 in China, 218 in Bahrain, 169 in Iran, 131 in the United States, and 81 in Iraq.
