MUZAFFARABAD: A jeep carrying 13 passengers from upper Neelum valley to Muzaffarabad, the capital city of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, fell into the river on Wednesday morning, authorities here said.
As a result, 10 passengers lost their lives while three were injured and shifted to hospital by rescue personnel.
The jeep was coming to Muzaffarabad from Upper Lawat village when it skidded off the road and fell into the flooded river. The cause of the accident could not be known but bad weather may be responsible as it was raining in in the valley.
Rescue officials said that due to rain they could not launch a search operation to recover the dead bodies. However, the jeep was retrieved from the river.
Four people died in another accident involving a car of tourists from Punjab which fell into a river in Astore, Gilgit-Baltistan, on Tuesday.
