Over 50,000 Women to Perform Hajj Under Govt Scheme This Year

ISLAMABAD: A total of 50,114 women from Pakistan will perform Hajj this year under the government Hajj scheme, officials have confirmed.

According to details shared by the Hajj authorities, women make up 43.5% of the total government Hajj quota this year.

The highest number of female pilgrims is from the Karachi region, with 13,869 women selected for Hajj. Lahore follows with 13,619 women, while Islamabad has 11,573 female pilgrims.

From Multan, 4,264 women will perform Hajj, while 3,331 women have been selected from Peshawar. Sialkot will send 2,412 female pilgrims.

In terms of ratio, Sialkot has the highest participation rate of women at 47.8%, while Quetta has the lowest with 709 female pilgrims, accounting for just 17.3%.

From Sukkur, only 337 women have been selected under the scheme.

Officials said that a total of 50,114 women from eight regions will perform Hajj this year. The overall male quota stands at 65,182 pilgrims.

The total government Hajj quota is 119,000, which also includes pilgrims under hardship and assistant categories.
