Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that Pakistan has no intention or plan to recognize Israel, reaffirming the country’s longstanding foreign policy stance.
Speaking during a media briefing, Dar emphasized that good relations with other nations do not mean Pakistan will support actions it considers wrong. “We issued an official statement at the time of the attack on Iran,” he said, referring to a recent international incident. “Having good relations does not mean we will call wrong actions right.”
On regional matters, Dar noted that the ceasefire agreement between Pakistan and India is currently being upheld. He stressed the need for comprehensive dialogue between the two nations rather than engagement on isolated issues. “Our message is clear: dialogue with India must address all core issues, not just one,” he stated.
Regarding the Indus Waters Treaty, he clarified that no single party can unilaterally revoke the agreement.
In domestic affairs, Dar addressed the cases against the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying the current government has not filed any new cases. “These are matters for the judiciary,” he said. “When you take up arms against the state, the law takes its course.”
He also mentioned that Army Chief General Asim Munir is fully prepared to take action against terrorists, signaling the government’s firm stance on national security.
