UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan has welcomed the Muscat Plan of Action, describing it as a new approach to addressing hate speech, preventing incitement to genocide, and promoting peace and dialogue.
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, said the plan empowers traditional and Indigenous leaders to play a key role in peacebuilding and countering harmful ideologies.
He added that Pakistan will continue working with international partners to eliminate hate-driven ideologies and foster societies rooted in peace, equality, and stability.
Ambassador Ahmad also congratulated the Sultanate of Oman, the UN Office of the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide, and the Peacemakers Network for developing and finalizing the plan.
The Muscat Plan of Action was launched at the UN on June 11, highlighting the role of cultural and community leaders in preventing violence and promoting dialogue at the local level.
