Pakistan’s Total Public Debt Reaches Record Rs81.9 Trillion

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s total government debt has surged to a new record level of Rs81.9 trillion, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.

Official data shows that the central government’s debt increased during April 2026, reflecting a monthly rise of 1.70 percent and a year-on-year increase of 9.30 percent.

The latest figures highlight a continued upward trend in public borrowing, pushing the overall debt stock to its highest level in the country’s history.
