ISLAMABAD: The federal government is set to announce revised petroleum product prices today as part of its weekly review mechanism.

According to media reports, petrol prices in Pakistan may decrease by around 3 to 4 rupees per litre, while high-speed diesel could see a significant increase of 34 to 35 rupees per litre due to fluctuations in the international oil market.

The government shifted from a 15-day pricing cycle to a weekly adjustment system following recent global market volatility. Officials say the final decision will be made after consultation with the Prime Minister before issuing a formal notification.

Currently, petrol and diesel prices stand at approximately 381.78 rupees and 380.78 rupees per litre, respectively. In the previous review, both fuels saw a reduction of 22 rupees per litre.

Reports also indicate a severe fuel situation in parts of Balochistan, where petrol prices have reportedly reached up to 500 rupees per litre, causing shortages and long queues at filling stations.
