Shahzada Dawood, others onboard missing submersible believed dead

US Coast Guard says vessel suffered a catastrophic loss of pressure that imploded it.

All the five passengers on the tourist submarine that embarked to witness the historic Titanic wreckage are tragically believed to be dead, leading to the termination of the rescue and search operation.

An official from the US Coast Guard reported on Thursday that the missing submersible had encountered a “catastrophic” incident resulting in the fatalities, effectively concluding the extensive search efforts for the vessel lost during the journey to explore the Titanic’s remains.

Ocean Gate Expeditions stated in a statement that these individuals were true explorers, driven by a deep and unique passion for adventure, ocean exploration, and preservation.

In this heartbreaking time, our hearts go out to the souls of these five individuals and their families.

During a press conference, Rear Admiral John Mogger of the US Coast Guard revealed that a remotely operated vehicle deployed from a Canadian naval vessel had located the wreckage of the tourist submarine approximately 1,600 feet (488 meters) below the surface, around four kilometers beneath the ocean floor, on Thursday morning.

Admiral Mogger mentioned that upon observing the wreckage, it appears that the pressure chamber had experienced a catastrophic failure.

Numerous international teams have spent several days searching thousands of square miles of open seas with the assistance of aircraft and maritime vessels in the quest to find any signs of the 22-foot (6.7-meter) Titan.

This joint effort, led by Ocean Gate Expeditions based in the United States, has faced an unfortunate disconnection from the submersible on Sunday morning, lasting approximately one hour and 45 minutes.

A statement released by the company expressed their belief that their CEO, Mr. Stockton Rush, Prince Dawood, his son Suleiman Dawood, Hardin Pal and Henry Narjollet, have tragically lost their lives.

They lament the fact that these individuals brought joy and happiness into the lives of everyone they knew, and now, they themselves are no longer among us.
